Who we are
This privacy policy is for Up and Okay: Parent Reminders, an Android app published on Google Play by Harris Apps Studio (package com.pillguard.family), and for the website upandokay.com. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Harris Apps Studio.
Up and Okay is a daily reminder and family check in app for Android (the website address is upandokay.com). This page explains what the app collects, what this website collects, and how that information is handled.
On this website
On this website we collect the email address you give us when you join the early access list. We use it to tell you when Up and Okay launches. We store it with our email provider, Brevo. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.
In the app
Accounts are anonymous: the app creates a random Account ID and key on the phone. There are no passwords, and we do not ask for an email address or a real name beyond the first name you type. The reminders the parent has (the kind, the name they give it, an optional short note, the times and days, the waiting time before family is told, and who set it up when a family member added it), each check off (done, not today, or missed, with its time) and the morning check-in are stored on our server (Turso, hosted in the United States) so the family members the parent approves can see the check marks. They are used for nothing else. The person getting the reminders decides who can see their check marks, and can remove a family member at any time. We never sell personal information, and we never use it for advertising.
Phone numbers
A family member may type a parent's phone number so the family app can show a Call button; it is stored with that family connection only. A family member may also add their own number so the parent's app shows a Call the family button with their name; it is shown only to parents they are connected to. Both are optional and can be removed in Settings.
Photos
A parent or a family member may add one photo of themselves. The app makes a small copy (256 pixels) on the phone and stores that copy on our server so it can be shown on the connected family's phones: the family member's face on the parent's Call button and reminders, the parent's face on the family board. Photos are never public and are not used for anything else. Remove the photo in Settings, or delete the account, and it is gone from the server.
The spoken reminders
Reminders can be spoken out loud on the parent's phone ("Good morning, Robert. Tap I'm up."). The short lines are made from the parent's first name and the reminder names by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, requested by our server when the phone asks for them, and the audio is stored on the phone. Only the text of the line is sent to Google for this. The voice can be turned off in the parent's Settings. The app never records anyone.
Alerts and the weekly summary
The family app asks our server about once every 15 minutes whether a reminder or the morning check-in was not checked off in time, and shows a notification on the phone. The parent app asks every 15 minutes whether a family member set up a new reminder. On Sunday evening the family app shows a one-line summary of the parent's week. We do not use a push service.
Sharing Up and Okay from our website
On our website, when you use the Share Up and Okay button, we count it, with no name attached, by our own counter at growth.grademyhabits.com. If you arrive from a link someone shared, a cookie keeps that link's random code for 30 days so the person who shared can be credited. Browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted.
Share and install counts
When you use the share button in the app, we count it, with no name attached, by our own counter at growth.grademyhabits.com. The share link carries a random code so that an install which came from it can be credited to the person who shared; on the first open after an install from Google Play the app reads the Play install referrer once for this. We count app interactions (such as a reminder checked off, for the review request timing) and a random device identifier for these counts. Reminder names and check off times are never sent to the counter.
Deleting your information
In the app, Settings has Delete my account: it removes the account, reminders, check offs and family connections from our server right away. Without the phone, use upandokay.com/delete with the Account ID shown in the app's Settings, or write to the contact email on our Google Play listing. Email addresses from the early access list can be removed the same way. Server logs that may hold request metadata are kept for up to 30 days.
Children
Up and Okay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above.
